BAIN & COMPANY EXPANDS MANAGEMENT TEAM IN SOUTH AFRICA TO LEAD NEXT WAVE OF INVESTMENT AND GROWTH

Johannesburg, South Africa, March 2, 2010 - In response to growing demand for its services, Bain & Company, the global business consulting firm, announced today two senior additions to its South African management team. Vittorio Massone has been named Managing Partner of Bain's South Africa office and Athol Williams rejoins Bain as a Partner and member of the firm's Global Financial Services Practice.

In his new role, Vittorio Massone will lead Bain's client portfolio and consulting team in South Africa, with a focus also on SADC countries and major sub-Saharan markets, including Nigeria and Kenya. Massone brings more than 15 years of experience in working with private and public sector clients-including media and entertainment, industrial goods and services, telecommunications, automotive and government with corporate and business unit strategy, performance improvement, and organizational redesign. Massone earned an M.B.A. from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. He also graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in economics from the University La Sapienza in Rome.

Athol Williams returns to Bain as a Partner, where he will focus on serving clients in the financial services sector. Williams previously worked as a consultant with Bain in its London, New York and Boston offices. Williams is a corporate strategy and investment executive who has advised management teams both in South Africa and globally. He is also an adjunct Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, where he teaches in the Graduate School of Public and Development Management. Prior to rejoining Bain, Williams ran his own consulting business, Taurus Associates, in South Africa for five years and subsequently was the Executive Director for Strategy at Old Mutual South Africa. Williams earned a Master of Science, with a major in finance, from the London Business School and an M.B.A. from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand.
